Unless he sucked water into the intake, how are the plugs supposed to have been effected?
If you did suck enough water into the intake to screw up the plugs, you have more worrys than replacing the plugs.
I would be more looking at coil packs etc having water in them and shorting out. An electrical short can do funny stuff, believe me I know.

It was just a suggestion. When my coils got wet from coolant I first dried the coils and that worked some time then they got soaked from the coolant again. I changed out the spark plugs just to make sure and dried the coils. Now the coolant problem is fixed so I don't have to keep doing that.

It's something simple to do. If the car has been sitting then the coils maybe dry already. Mine just kept getting wet because of the coolant leak.
