I heard that the reason for this is that there is a negative camber built into the rear axle or something of that sort. They say that jacking it up from the pumpkin can mess with that, but I don't really follow that to well :s.

if it had negative camber then how would all the rotating assemblies inside the axels spin?

Easiest way to remove tailpipes is with the car on jack stands, pop the tire(s) off. Put the jack under the shock mount and remove the shock bolt leaving the jack to support that side of the axle. Then just lower the jack until that sides pipe has enough clearance to remove the tailpipe. Beats the hell out of cutting the pipes. [:'(]
