service engine soon light
1999 GT 5spd 35k miles
tried a new gas station for half a tank the other day, upon next startup service engine soon light came on, stayed on all day today. i doubt it to be anything serious... but i figured id check here. the car felt a little sluggish this monring but seems to be doing better now, i filled it back up with my regular gas. Im thinking it could just be a bad tank of gas.. my gas cap was shut properly..
any other ideas as to what it could be?

That could be your problem... unless your car is tuned for premium, Ford has tuned these cars to run on 87! Here is the word for word from the owners manual...
"Your vehicle is designed to use"regular" unleaded gasoline with an (R=M)/2 octane rating of 87. We do not recomend the use of gasolines labeld as "regular" that are sold with octane ratings of 86 or lower in high altitude areas."
"Premium unleaded gasoline is not recomended because it may cause these problems to become more pronounced"(starting, rough idle or hesitation driveability problems during cold start)
"It should not be necessary to add any aftermarket products to your fuel tank if you continue to use high quallity fuel of the recommended octane rating. Aftermarket products could cause damage to the fuel system."
That could be it... or ya just got some bad gas! Ever replaced your fuel filter?
