The goal of this thread is to provide mf.com users with information to the most common fixes for stumbling idle, hesistating idle and stalling out. If you have had a problem with your idle please specify what it was doing and vote on what you replaced that fixed it. Please keep the descriptions straight forward and to the point in order to save bandwidth. Hopefully if we get enough positive responces, this will be stickied next to this post https://mustangforums.com/m_587901/tm.htmin the "how to" thread.

My throttle body to plenum gasket was cracked giving me a vacuum leak. It was idling weird and the RPMs would hang up and sometimes stall. Put a new gasket in and it was fine.

I bought my car used, soon there after I changed the spark plugs because it had 80k miles and I figured that it was probably time. What I found was the #4 cylinder's plug was completely destroyed. The prong was actually touching the electrode and it looked like the heat welded it there. That fixed my bouncing idle a bit. Then I got the infamous stalling problem, changing the IAC helped that but it is coming back now[:'(]

I was having an "alright" Idle (from what the dealer told me) but I knew something was up because it would bounce around sometimes @ idle. So I cleaned the MAF and the IAC at the same time and have NEVER had a problem since. I recommend doing this if you have an idle problem.

However if your idle is REALLY ****ty it is most likely a plug/coil issue.

Mine would go dead when coming to a stop. I have an auto. so when I got a programmer, I uped the idle while in gear to 650 rpm's and it fixed it.

throttle position sensor out of adjustment after throttle body change caused stalling. adjust tps with volt meter to correct problem.

Personally if someone told me their car was idleing "weird" i would have to ask what do you mean by weird. General from what i have seen if their is an issue with the IAC the car will seem to idle high. If the car is idleing low i would have to check a few things(plugs, coils, boots/wires) Kinda hard to diagnose a "weird Idle"
