What is the maximum HP that you could squeeze out of a 4.6 ?

I would bet it is going to be much easier/cheaper to get the 350 to higher horsepower.. 350 is a good motor. My gf’s dad has a built N/A 350 that makes 527 hp.. I cant see a N/A 4.6 making those numbers without some serious cash.
Good luck though. I think its just going to come down to who has more $$$.

4.6 engines have their own 'plateau' thresholds for hp and needing certain things. The first is w/o forged internals, and that safe limit is around 450 rwhp tuned. If all the internals are forged, then without doing anything else to the motor, I feel the 'safe' rwhp is around 600. After that a lot needs to be done to support, say, 800 rwhp. After around 600 rwhp, you'll start blowin valve seals and stuff unless you update that 4.6. Targeting a rwhp of around 550 is safe on your stock block, as long as your internals are forged.

I dunno, I was just askin cause my friend thinks that he can make a 350 faster than the 4.6. He has a 1990 IROC Z28 and hes gonna drop a supercharged 350 in it. I'm just wondering how much I could get out of my engine so I can **** him off when I slay his rolling brick, lol

It'll cost you twice as much to make the same HP it does him.

well, damn, sounds like I neet to invest in a cobra......*sigh* I might as well just wait till the '07 ones come out, buy one and make that fast...I'm sure by then I'd have enough money.

There's no replacement for displacement.

a 4.6 block will only handle about 600 hp, and that's at the crank. don't bother with forged internals, your best bet will be a whole new shortblock. buy yourself a VT 302 stroker, with a head and cam package, a new tranny and a blower. also some suspension, lots of tuning, and many other various things you will need to change. you'll need about 25G's. better off buying an 03 cobra and slapping a KB on it. all your buddy has gto do is drop in a nice 502 chevy crate motor, or a built 350 with a blower and you are gonna have problems.
