Is it a big dealership?? If so, they can make any sale they really want, w/ in reason.. I know it'll be hard to believe, but when I signed over my Mustang to be traded in, I got $10,000 for a 2000 GT w/ 165,000 miles on it and it had been in one accident.. I dealt w/ a big dealership, and since they wanted to make a sale, I got what I wanted... I owed $3500 on it at the time, so I still made out w/ $6500 as a down payment...
I did also mention that it had a brand new tranny, brand new suspension, brand new wheels/tires, brand new paint (accident), brand new brakes (upgraded) and every single accessory you could get on a Mustang in 2000....
I bet you can work them more than you think.. If it's at all possible, bring $1000 w/ you, and it'll make things a lot easier to negotiate...
Also, how's your credit??

well its 15,900 on the tag and not firm, so i could probably drag em down 1000, i'd take 1,000 with me, and hopefully they'd meet me half way with my stang and dish out 6,500-7 for it. With all that said i'd be looking at financing 7000$ because the current money owed is on a credit card, and I would leave that as is, and would finance the new debt =x
