i did my cams and heads when i put my blower on, by build-up i thought he meant forged internals, that way he can make more than 450hp and not worry about totaling the bottom end. i still think he should work on forging it before going F/I if he has the money for a blower, he can have the motor built, and have blower cams and heads ready until he gets the supercharger, thats how i did it. and FYI im running 42lb hr. injectors at 10psi and it seems fine, but the SVT fuel pump isnt enough if you go over 12psi and 60lb

blower first...youll easily make 30-40 more whp that most completely built n/a 2vs. you can enjoy being in the 3XXrwhp range and when you have the money you can upgrade the motor and fuel system. its not like the vortech is loud or anything...you absolutely cant hear mine unless im idling. when driving or even gettin on it, it sounds stock.

not only that but 200GT4.6 made a good point, if you goin with a blown GT, and your goin to build the motor for the blower, then youll need blower cams, and you dont want those cams while n/a. you wont make any power and your gonna have to lower your compression, yet again no good for n/a power. just think about it. your best bet is to go with the blower. just make sure you get it dyno tuned.

blower first. ask all these people who did the motor first how much money they ended up spending. blowers on stock bottom ends making 300 + are way cooler than built bottom ends making 270

its going to be lame when you start looking at 12 psi + and you wont be able to do it cause you didnt build your motor... u can buy parts and wait to install them until its necessary. when u do ur blower, might as well do blower cams and heads at the same time to get it all done. they are right you wont gain that much by building ur motor and forging it. but when you have a forged motor, and go F/I with the proper injectors and fuel system ull be over 500hp... alot better than 300+ and needing to take everything apart.

ORIGINAL: 2000GT4.6

If your keeping the two in the same price range (or about) I assume your talking about doing a shortblock and maybe a set of cams? Even with ported heads etc, you will need to have a blower specfic (preferably custom) cam, not a n/a cam. The car isn't going to run that well n/a with the blower cams in. You will also want to run a lower compression ratio, which once again is not going to make good power n/a.

I don't think people realise that you can't go out and "build the motor" for a FI setup and run around with it n/a making good power. Your not going to see 330+ WHP like some of our other n/a 2v guys with a low compression blower cam setup.

One thing to think about, when/if you get the blower first, you should just go ahead and get the 60 lb/hr injectors and the proper fuel system to handle the horsepower levels you want to run when you build the motor. No reason to pay for the 42s and a SVT pump and then have useless parts laying around when you upgrade.
Yeah, If i Built the Motor First i would do it Right,(Low Compression) blower Cams. SO i didnt have to Do all that work again Later down the Road. Ill go with the Vortech First. When i Build my motor I wanna buy a block and buy everything seperate and Get Everything Bored out and have the motor Ready to go in. (so i dont have ALOTTA down time on my Car) Then maybee i can sell my Stock Motor to Someone For a lil cash

Just do the blower first, 6-8 psi will be plenty of fun until you get a built bottom end.
Blower FTW!

do the blower first. just doing your motor isn't going to let you run crazy high numbers. see if the 400RWHP you get out of that will keep you happy. if not, then spend the ~$3000 on the motor, then fuel upgrades, then tranny upgrade, then rear end upgrade, then labor assuming you don't do it yourself. getting to 500RWHP costs a lot more than just a built motor.
