Default Pro-50 Woes

I just installed my Pro-50 last week and I love the way it feels. The only problem is itmaking a grinding or chattering noise when I get up in the higher RPM's. I have confirmed everything is tight and it is not the stop bolts. It annoying the heck out of me. I was wondering if anyone has this problem? I was thinking I need to fabricate some type of gasket to sit between the shifter and where it mounts to the tranny. Thats the only place I could think the noise is coming from. The stock shifter didn't make a peep before so I know it has to do with the shifter. Any thoughts or help is appreciated. Thanks all, other then that the shifter is sucha huge improvement.

Welcome to the club!
Many aftermarket shifters make some noise.
I installed a Roush last year and it makes a little noise only in 5th under acceleration.
I put some fiberglass insulation in around the shfter base and it did killsome of noise but it is nothing to worry about.
Put on headers and an o/r midpipe and you won't hear shifter noise anymore

What is making the noise....I would think for the 180 bucks they would be able to design a part that is on par with a stock ford part in terms of noise, no??

The ford factory unit has a rubber isolator in it, so you will get more noise with the damn 5.0 because there is no isolator, its what you get with any short throw. did you follow the directions and cut out the boot?

Yeah, I cut the boot. I guess I'll just deal with the annoyance.

What kind of a sound does it make? I have this stupid ticking sound that sounds like its coming from the area of the shifter. It is bugging the crap out of me. I wonder if it is the same noise you have.

Thanks all the input. I found a gasket kit on stangmods, it comes with the shifter arm one and the gasket that sits between the shifter and the tranny. It was only 10 bucks, i'll let you know how I make out.
