i have a 2002 gt and something drains my battery after a couple days.i pulled the fuses and found out its coming from the number 6 fuse i think it was, under the hood. and the book says its the instrument cluster/pcm. Does anyone have any ideas of where to look for this short that is killing my battery? thanks for any info you guys can give on this problem. thanks

 

steeda UDPs dont charge during idle so that could be it if you have them

if not it might be the alternator

 

does the alternator have anything to do with the instrument cluster fuse though?

have you added any lights or subs/mods to sound system?? the fog lights are on the same fuse as the instument cluster

 

havent added anything. how would i go about tracking this short down??? what steps do i take?

 

make sure nothing is on (like an overhead light) when you leave your car and make sure ur battery is good! check the voltage with a voltmeter when the car is off, should be about 12 volts. and when the car is on should be about 14..my alternator went bad on mine about 6 months ago. it might be urs.

 

you might want to check it for codes....is it running alright? if it was a pcm shorting i would think youd be getting codes out the ****, cluster may even read inaccurate...how exactly did you determine the fuse thing?

 

had a voltage meter on it and when i pulled that fuse, the voltage dropped my buddy said.

 

Does your a/c work ? If not there is a relay in the inside passenger fender above the wheel well and it may be bad . I've seen several symptoms including yours and the a/c not working .I'm not sure what the part is called but it's mounted inside the fender near the engine compartment .
