Default PI benefits and Porting

I may be able to get a set of PI heads for nearly free. So I was wondering, what is a ball park figure for the power I will gain and the mileage diferance. Also, considering the low cost of obtaining these heads, I was wondering what the cost of a good port job would be, and the gains I will get from it. And with the swap, will i need new fuel injectors?

Well with the PI heads you'll need the pi cams and pi intake manifold as well. Depending on your other mods doing all these things would pick you up around 25-35 hp and just a stronger running car all together. If you sift through some of the forums you can find people selling all this stuff rather cheap so it's not a bad idea to look around. I would recommend looking for PI parts from 2002-2004 Stangs because they are were built at the Romeo plant and I've heard that they were built better and stronger...

You will gain more than 25-35 if you do the entire PI swap of H/C/I. Youll gain more in the area of 60 at the crank, around 40-45 rw depending on how lucky you are. Infact, with a PI swap you have more hp than PI cars because your compression bump gains you an extra 10 or so.

The biggest difference is the gaining of a topend. NPI cars die around 4000 rpm, make no power whatsoever. With a PI swap, you will have a topend and pull to redline. It wont be insane pulling, but it will pull.

why do a PI swap? just save up and buy aftermarket cams and heads and a good manifold? then you'll gain about 70hp...

or you can just S/C your car like mine, run 14 psi and eat vettes :X jk youre going to get higher compression than the new edges, your heads are going to flow a little better, and dont even bother with the P/I cam if you can afford a stage 1 cam, if the P/I cam is free then go with that.

I drive a 97 GT. and I'm not going to pay the bucks for new heads and cams since I can get the heads for like $50 from a friend. As for the port job, I wouldn't mind paying a couple hundred for a port job. Anyone know the gains you can get from a Port job on PI heads?
