Default Factory alarm and 4.10 questions

Hello everyone.
2 days ago I installed a Ford Racing 4.10 gear on my car, 98 mustang gt 5 spd... I went to the track and ran a best of 14.36, last year without the gear i ran a best of 14.42.. I'm spinning pretty good through 1st gear, whats the best way to solve my traction issues?
Also, my speedo is WAY off, how can I fix it?

Now for the factory alarm.
When I cought this car from the dealership, they somehow set that factory alarm and it worked. I would go to touch the door handle and the alarm would sound. Now, I could body clam the car and it wouldn't make a sound at all (I'd never actually do that, but just to give an idea). I can't figure out how to work it, the THEFT light always flashes no matter what, I can still lock and unlock the car with the keyless entry, but am not sure how to set the alarm. Does anyone know?

Thank you!

DRs, get a set to use for the track. If you really want to spend a little more money and get a good track car, you need to actually get into the suspension, and even then you'd want a good set of DRs.

And I don't know anything about the alarm, I don't even have power locks.

What do you think of the 4.10s with a T-45 by the way? I know 3.73s no a T-45 are about the same as 4.10s on a 3650, but after riding in my buddy's Terminator with nearly 600 RWHP, I want every bit of pull that I can get now!

Oh yeah, and for the speedo, you'll want to grab either a SpeedCal (http://www.americanmuscle.com/speed-...tor-94-04.html) or just get a tuner.

With a 98 you should be able to just replace the little plastic gear on the speedo pickup (its on the trans). You will have to buy a 4.10 gear and install it, shouldn't be that hard of a install but I don't have the mechanical trans so have never done it.

So far as traction, you have lots of options. The first thing I would try would be a set of drag radials. You can run a d/r like a nitto 555 R and get around 10K each out of them. With your power level a set of nittos should keep you from spinning pretty well.

If it still spins after the nittos the skys the limit, but starting mods on the suspension are springs, shocks/struts (adjustables are the best) and control arms.

I have no idea on the car alarm, mine didn't come with one.

thank you everyone!

So go with a set of DR's instead of ET Streets then? What size should I go with? My frineds told me to buy some cheap 15" rims becuase a set of 15's will let me fit more sidewall in the wheel well's... I can buy any size rims from the local yards for cheap... 15x8?

I love the 4.10's!!!! I kinda don't like the highway, at 70mph I was at roughly 2900 RPM

As long as the rims will match the lug pattern and fit on there, anything is fine. You'll see a LOT of people out on the track with rear wheels that don't match the front because they just have an old crappy set of rims for their DRs and just throw them on when they go to the track, and swap them back off when they are on the street. As long as you're not driving them around on the street much they'll last a long time.

i'll buy some crap rims to throw the DR's on... I will only use them at the track, and maybe a few times on the street, but thats maybe 3 times a year...

What size should i go with? i'm on the stock suspension.

Anyone with any input on the factory alarm thing?
