Default Is it worth it?

I have been browsing through the forum and it looks like everyone always says get an exhuast and gears. Is exhuast really that important of an upgrade if you are not going to get the whole set-up? I was wondering because I want to do some mods, but I do not plan on getting a full exhaust set-up and I like how the GT sounds stock. But, if it is actually worththe $ to get a new catback, then I would look into buying one and possibly a midpipe also.

think of it this way.. put your fingers over your mouth and try to exhale = stock exhaust. now open your fingers up and exhale = aftermarket

+1 what they said, but it makes the car sound way better. if you think you like how it sounds stock, you'll love how it sounds with a aftermarket setup.

I don't think the HP is worth it until you've done other mods. Just my 0.2. Just go look at track times for cars with just intake and exhaust work vs gears and suspension.

hp gains arent to much but the sound is 10 times better.... but you will feel the difference with gears

Almost all aftermarket catback systems will be louder than the the OEM system, some just a bit and some quite a bit--if part of what you like about "how the GT sounds stock" is the volume then an aftermarket system may not be for you. If this is so, and I were you, then I'd look at getting an aftermarket catted H or X pipe--replaceing the stock 4 (or 6) cats with 2 high-flow units will provide some gain without a whole lot of added noise.I know that many will disagree with this, just my $0.02 worth; and BTW I have UPR catted X with a custom 2.5" catback using Maganflows--it's pretty loud but not obnoxiously so...

It depends on your budget and what you are going for...If you are going strictly for performance, I would spend the big dollars on 4.10s or something of that nature...and maybe buy a set of chambered mufflers and install them..Should save you some money for future modding, and will give give you performance and "some" sound....One day when you are ready you can go all out with long tubes, x or h pipe, and a cat back of your choice or get some mandrel bent tubing and use the mufflers you purchased....

I thought mine sounded good with just flows and once i added my o/r x pipe, it was a whole new car. torque increase in the midrange was amazing. Remember, we do have the best sounding motors made in the last 20 years so take advantage of it.
