Default Need Clutch?

To be honest, I have never kept a manual tranny car long enough to have to replace a clutch, and I just picked up my 00 GT with 43K miles on it, and I'm trying to figure out if I need to replace the clutch (will be soon enough anyways, but checking if I need to right now). The tranny runs fine, but seems to grind almost everytime when I put it into reverse, and wants to pop out of gear. Other than that it operates fine. Is that something that is common with reverse, or do I need a new clutch. Will a short throw new shifter fix the problem as well?

Thats not your clutch--thats your transmission. Synchros more than likely.

there's no synchronizer for reverse and yes, its a common problem. try putting it into 1st or 5th before reverse i find that it slides in easier
