motor swap
i was wondering if a 06 mustang gt motor will bolt up to a 99 mustang gt. as i know someone who has wrecked an 06 and its totalled. and i want the motor so will it fit into my 99. and what problems will i run into ECU?? and what not..and how can i go about getting around these problems. and what not.
thanks
thanks
the '06 is a 3V engine so,, the computer might be different. Make sure you get THAT from the '06 car as well. As far as other differences,, not too sure. Mechanically the engine should drop in no problem
It'll work, but you'll need to do some work as it's electronic throttle control. Also you will have to wire the ECU from the donor car for your new one, as the chips are not interchangeable.
It's quite a bit of work. Sounds like your car has a bit of work done to it, why do you want to go 3v now? It'd be easier for you to go SC/Nitrous or do a 4v head swap.

I'm not sure how compatible the 3v heads are with a 2v style manifold. If I'm right, I don't believe the 3v manifold can just be bolted onto a 2v engine without some modifications. Then getting the TB/ETC to work correctly..it's a lot of work.
IMO, you are much better off doing a 4v head swap.

i looked on karkraft and saw the outrageous prices. idk but i went to the ford dealership parts counter and priced a complete 2004 cobra engine with everything for only 4700 i have the computer printout ill post later. but karkraft.com wants 8000 +
well i dont know... kinda wondering how this 4v swap will work.. wondering what i would have to do to do it.. what all gets swapped? just the heads and what else? how much HP would i even gain.. the reason i was looking at the swap is the motor out of that car has 7,000 miles on it mine has 100,000 on it so i need a new motor if i go supercharged cause a supercharger i think would be to rough on a car with that many miles..... plus my cams are N/A cams. so im kinda running out of things to do besides suspension to my mustang without doing a TT or SC or Nitrous... Nitrous is probly the route ill go but not sure.. dont think im going to be doing the motor swap though. to much invovled. to much to **** up..
