Default MIL eliminators and gas mileage

I was talking to another guy tonight with a 98 cobra about my offroad X Pipe and he noticed my C/E light was on. I told him I just haven't had a chance to purchase the MIL eliminators yet and he said I should make it a top priority because it actually costs you horsepower and worsens gas mileage. Is this true? I was under the impression that the CE light was merely an annoyance .. just confirming that this is factual? And if so, anyone happen to have some good prices/websites for some MIL eliminators? Thanks

This is true about the car running differently. With out the mils, I believe it causes the computer to make the motor run lean. The mills will basically trick the computer into thinking everyhting is ok and run as it normally would. As far as finding them, I picked up some on here for 25$.

It's been maybe a little under a month or right at a month since I've had them on there ... if I were to pick up the MILs within the next couple of weeks or so, I should probably be good then? Thanks again by the way

i thought it was the other way around.....

without MILs the computer doesnt know what amount of air is going in or out so to avoid running lean, it makes the air/fuel run very rich (thus the bad gas mileage....dumping in more gas than the engine can efficiently burn off)

i know of a couple people who run their cars without MILs and they run fine so i dont know what type of damage you would get from constantly running too rich...however i have MILs and i get better gas mileage than they do....and i beat the **** outta my car too

after a while the cost of getting a few more mpg will cancel out the cost of the MIL's....just get em

You do run rich .. you'll smell it ... it isn't good to run it for long because of the excess fuel getting burnt can cause some damage in the long run ... just throw them on as soon as you can .. its not gonna kill anything for now .. its just a good idea to get it taken care of ...
