Default Saleen S/C on a 99GT?

I am in the market for a superchager and now im looking at a used Saleen s/c Series 2Roots Style with an innercooler. Is their anything I have to watch out for when installing this and should it fit ok? Do you think this saleen s/c would be better than a vortech or procharger? Any advice on this would be helpful.

Thats all a Saleen is... a beefed up GT. It should bolt on really easy. If it doesnt come with the kit you will need a new drive belt, 255lph fuel pump and 42lb fuel injectors.

ORIGINAL: DVS99GT

NO! The roots style blower is the least efficent of all. Alot of people upgrade their roots Cobra/Lightning blowers. That should tell you something. I would take a Vortech or a Procharger over a roots any day.

It comes with 30 lb injectors, heat exchanger, waterpump, throttle body, overflow tank, tubing, intake bolts, drive belt, pulley. how much boost does the roots style blower give u? Do you also think I should upgrade to 42lb fuel injector like jDaniel said? DO you also think it is better to wait for a used vortech to come along?

here's a pic

The roots isnt the greatest of blowers. What you really want is a Twin Screw or centrifugal blower. I know a guy here thats got a roots blower on his Saleen and he is upgrading it to a Kenne Bell. His runs 10 psi.

10 PSI Sounds good. Vortech gives u 8-9PSI . How much do you think that roots blower is worth? Im about to pay $1600 it has 5000 miles on it & comes with everything but the fuel pump. Is that too much to pay?

Thats pretty good but you do know you dont just throw a S/C on and go... dont you? There is more entail. Like a tune and if you put too much boost on the engine you could throw a rod br melt a piston. You might wanna look into it a little more.

ya but cant the GT engine support 10PSI b4 engine modifications are needed? I know u have to get it dyno tuned to get the timing and the air/fuel the right ratio but what else is required after installing the s/c?

If you go with that kit, installation will be easy. To answer your question, I don't think the series 2 is better than a centrifugal. For the $ it is a good deal, that kit new sells for 3299$. That blower on stock saleens made around 6-7 psi. At max, that blower will put out 11-12 psi. With the 30 lb injectors, you can support 6-7 psi fine. Even if you want to run 10-11 psi, the 30 lb injectors will be fine, but your stock fuel pump won't. If you wanna run 10 psi, you will need a 255l/hr fuel pump. If you run 10 psi on you stock pump, your motor will run out of fuel at 5,000 rpm. You don't need 42 lb injectors. That kit is ready to go for your car to make 6-7 psi, though. Is it worth it for the $? Probably, but if you could find a used centrifugal for, say, under 2k, I'd go that way. Better yet, save your pennies for the screw.
