Mongoose kit
Hey guys, I've been away from the forums for awhile... but I just sold my bike soI am seriously contemplating ordering a Vortech Mongoose kit for the stang. I guess I am wondering whether there is anything big that I will need that isn't included in the kit.
Also, for those of you that have gotten this kit, any general words of advice? Difficulty of install? S or SQ trim?
Mongoose Kit
Gauges (which ones are absolute necessities?)
This will be my first serious performance mod, so how much hp should I hope for (all engine components are totally stock. Yea NPI[:'(])? Any info/advice is much appreciated. I am new to the area of boost, so consider me a noob. I was gonna do H/C/I this summer, but nowI can't stop thinking about a boost gauge in my car.I figure I can do blower cams and a PI intake later on down the road.

RE: Mongoose kit
Just a 3/8-18 npt tap. That can be found at napa.
I will say that installing the fuel pump was a pain. If you're going to jack up the rear of the car, give yourself plenty of clearance. I didn't give myself enough and basically had a hell of a time squeezing myself under the car in order to see where to put some screws.
That's the only part I've done so far since I originally thought I'd need to sell mine.

You will be happy with the Mongoose kit, the only really difficult part of the install for me was tapping the oil pan, took about an hour for me to do it. The rest is very simple, just follow the instructions and be patient.

RE: Mongoose kit
Thanks to 97stanger for good info. Anyone out there with a 98 GT have any reccomendations for aftermarket fuel pumps? 97, I know you suggested the walbro 255lph intank pump, but that won't work on 98's apparently. I guess they are a "year of their own" sort of speak, at least when it comes to aftermarket fuel pumps.

RE: Mongoose kit
Can anyone explain what exactly it is about the 98's fuel system that is so different? I've seen a ton of fuel pumps that say they are compatible for a wide range of years ending with '97, then new edge GT's have the returnless fuel system, right? Sooo what happened in '98? I've been looking around for awhile and the only fuel pump that I think is compatible with my car is the vortech pump that Rob98GT mentioned...
