Default Leak behind rear passenger wheel...

There is something leaking behind the rear passenger wheel...it's all over the rim and inside of the tire. It almost looks like tar and is very sticky. What is this? What can cause this? Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like a bad axle seal.

My room mate said it could be a wheel bearing??? Could this be a possibility also?

Usually if it`s a bearing it will squeek.

well, no squeeking so far. say it is an axle leak... is this going to be an expensive fix? I know it depends on the size and what needs to be replaced.

Thats what my car was doing... There was a tare looking and a oil looking crap all over the place underneith my car, in the wheel itself, in the fenderwell, on my exhaust tips, it was everywhere. I took my carto the shop and they told meI had a bad axle, bearing, and seal. Whichdont really bother mebecause I was going to install aftermarket axles in anyway, but it may be a few weeks before I get the money to get them installed.
