I used to have an off road X and custom side pipes with straight through mufflers and it did that. But its becuase you are running too rich and your unburned exhaust gasses ignite from the heat of your exhaust and then get pushed out. Mine shot blue flames. It was pretty cool lol

He's right. My car does it too sometimes with my O/R H. I think it's pretty cool. It scared my friend in his 5.0 when we raced. H said he saw the flames so he "backed off" so I didn't really beat him. And then the next time we raced, I couldn't catch traction becasue of my crap tires and he spanked me! Damn!!! you guys are idiots.... The flames come out of the tailpipes on the fast and the furious because of the speed particle flow of the imports. DUH, just read import magazines, thats where like everyone finds out what they need to know

LOL. Happened to me andmy dad in his Shelby Cobra...
We were in the middle of a backroad, stopped, like 10:30 @ night. He says hold on, and he revs up, dumps the left pedal, and we aint goin NOOOWHERE... just tire spin in place, I look at my dad, and he's frantically trying to keep it striaght, (no power steering) and then he just slaps it into 2nd gear, and BOOOOM!!! I look around and the entire ****ing forest lights up for like 2 seconds. I swear I saw winni da poo right there. But yeah, it was sooo cool. Since the Cobra's got sidepipes, it shot out from both sides,and then VROOOOOMMMMMM WE WERE GONNNNE. It brought tears to my eyes knowin that we built that beast. It seriously was the coolest moment I've had in that car. LOL. Thought I'd share, though I'm not sure why it happened. Air/Fuel mix is my guess. The spark caught up with the fuel leaving the exhaust valve and burns it out the pipe instead of the cylinder.
