Well im not 100% sure but if you are someone that has to worry about emissions i think longtubes will be illegal as well.

Some people will give you crap for the flows but it's a personal preference.

Hmm... I'd check in on that too becuase I'd heard that LTs are almost always, if not always going to be illegal, but I'd never heard of a catted shorty midpipe either, it'd seem like if they did that it would be legal. I'd go run to the closest place that does inspections and ask them if they know. A lot depends on your state and how strict they are. Then again, you could always just find a place that wont care. Typically, on OBD II cars, inspections are supposed to consist of checking what the computer tells them (bypassed with MIL eliminators or a tuner to turn off the rear sensors), and also a visual check. However, most places wont bother getting your car up on the lift to look under just for cats. Now, it obviously depends on where you go because with an O/R pipe you'll certainly be loud enough to give a hint, especially with the LTs, but it just depends on if they care. Lots of places just read the computer and if it says it's good then that's enough for them.

If you want to save some money check out CAM longtube headers on ebay for $349 shipped! They are 304 polished stainless steel!!! They will retain the heat just as well as those mild steel ceramic coated headers and are half the price. Never rust either!
