Default How are Roots/Twin Screw blowers cooled?

Ok I can obvisouly tell by lookin at my blower that air comes in through the implellars, down to the intercooler, and up the intake and on to the throttle body....

But how is a roots/twinscrew cooled? It seems like they just suck air into the blower and down into the intake manifold.

They replace your standard intake manifold and hook directly into your engine's coolant system. That is unless you have an intercooler to help them out. At least that's how I understand it. I've never worked with one so I can't be certain, that's just how I've always understood them to work.

There's an intercooler between the blower and the bottom of the intake manifold. It's an air(from the blower) to water(from a resevior) intercooler. Not sure if it's a special kind of coolant or just more of the same. You can also pour ice into your resevior which works well when at the track.

i thought kb had a front mount intercooler and alot of cobra guys switch to a front mount. you have to run distilled water in the air to water intercoolers, reg water will corode everything to hell.

But you can run on the engine's coolant if you don't have an intercooler can't you? I could be completely wrong but I thought you could.

You're confusing cooling the blower with cooling the charge air. The blower is cooled by engine coolant flow through the manifold, the charge airmay becooled by an intercooler (aftercooler as some call it) which might be ofair-to-air or water-to-air design.[/align]

the air comes through the TB and into the intake then gets compressed and pushed downward into the lower intake which contains a "brick" radiator which has coolant/water running through it cooling the air before it is spread into the cylinders. Atleast thats how it works on Saleen Twin Screws and some Eaton set ups.
