Default RE: Flywheel Differences?

Im in the process of putting a new motor in my 2000GT. Im using an earlier modle 4.6.. My 2000 had a 8 bolt flywheel. I then got a 6 bolt flywheel thinking it would work. But the outer diameter of the flywheel is the same size, the spots where the pressure plate bolts on is different..... Are there different combinations or do the 6 and 8 bolt flywheels have a specific clutch setup?

Thanks in advance

Yes there are internal balance differences! Also sounds like you have a Non-pi motor that you are putting into a PI car??? That's 45 less HP.

That or you have a windsor motor versus a Romeo?

Thanks for the reply.

So the 6 bolt and the 8 bolt flywheels use different clutchs? The 6 bolt flywheel I got has the same outer diameter as teh stock 8 bolt but where the clutch bolts to the flywheel is different. When I'm looking on eBay and places thaqt sell clucths it seems like they are all teh same from 96-04 just either its an 8 bolt or 6 bolt. Maybe the flywheel I got is from a Cobra?

Thanks again

some clutches are 11 inch, and i think others are 11.5 inch... there are 2 different styles. and why in hell would you put a non PI motor into a 2000?

I got a deal I couldnt beat on this motor. I thought the only difference on the motors was the heads?

I thought there were 10.5 and 11" clutchs? The clutch I got is a 10.5. The numbers on the flywheel I got are 34074

All the things listed on the flywheel: Valeo , 34704 , WF2 , 5g20 , Nodular

I have not seem these numbers from any of the flywheels for a mustang

All help is appreciated. This is the only thing holding me up from getting the motor done.

Thanks

Yes 10.5" is correct! Also, the heads are HUGE in diff as far as power gains, that's why you got a hell of a deal on it because nobody wants that engine! Actually you can make even more power with the non-pi engine and swap your pi heads onto it! The piston is 11cc in the non-pi motors and 17cc in the pi motors which gains you aditional compression boosting it upwards of 15hp over the stock pi motor! 270-275ish depending on applications. As far as the clutches go I would order one for a 10.5" clutch, but seriously look into swapping the heads! I think the teeth counts are diff also????? 157 vs. 168 might want to check that out as far as the 6 bolt vs. 8 bolt goes
