Default Headers? On an 03 GT

What will adding aftermarket headers do to my car? HP gains? Change in sound? I currently have a Mac catted H-pipe (was an O/R H-pipe that I added 2hi-flow cats to) with SLP LM1 weldins. What could I expect if I installed either aftermarket headers?

i have longtube headers and it sounds 1000000000x better with them. it makes it sound deeper, there is a hp gain, rpms go up alot quicker. imo its worth the 500. get ceramic coated ones.

+1. You will notice right away the difference IMO. Also, why did you add the cats to tho o/r h? Remove those cats and listen how it sounds with that o/r H and those SLP's LMs. You will never go back to cats (unless the state tells you to if you have an emissions test)

+1 on the long tubes.... Plus it makes it easier to swap out mid pipes for off roads and catts incase you got a dick inspection station.

Looks like I'll have to start saving for headers too!lol....What kind of pricing will I be looking at for installation? Seems like headers would be a PITA to install.....

I added two converters to my car because I didn't like the way my car sounded with the O/R h-pipe. It sounded like a pure machine gun / Harley at about 2,400 rpms. Now ithas moreof agrowl and isjust loud as my previous exhaust setup Mac O/R H-pipe w/ Flowmaster 40's.

I have also heard that you don't reach your true HP potential (of mid-pipe and catback) until you get the long tubes.

We went with the full Bassani headers, X-pipe, and catback for our 2000 GT. Made a HUGE difference in power, sound, and driving fun. If I'm remebering right, we picked up around 30 horse with the headers and exhaust. I seem to recall dyno stock was 226ish. We are now at 258.6 with headers, C&L plenum, 70mm TB, and BBK cold Air kit. But, it sounds AWESOME!! Better than my Trans Am!

Is it worth all the pain in the *** of changing the mid pipe and stuff just for long tubes or are shorty headers alright, I'm looking to get some power, but don't want droning noise while cruising down the highway.
