oooooh u talkin about the camaro 99-and up. ya . ive raced a few ls1's at rolling starts and just droppin a gear on em...... nothing real big. but ive never had one leave me....had one camming on me and didnt dust my ***. he got me by about 1 or 2....he was noticably quicker but not a whole hell of a lot. my freind riding with me is good with chevy's.. (*******) and he can identify em.
A cammed LS1 would completely destroy your or your friends car. Unless your running a built motor/suspension setup (ala code/zw99) you have no chance with a n/a GT against a cammed Ls1 car.
Sounds like your just running into some horrid drivers. there is literally nothing that can be done to your car to produce the results you are talking about without you knowing it. A built motor N/A GT isn't something you confuse for a stock motor one, and all the other possible mods are visible (exhaust etc etc). Even a full bolton GT simply has no shot at running with a cammed Ls1 car unless the LS1 is running 205 street tires and spins to 100+ MPH.
From a rolling start a car with your mods should be getting raped by a stock Ls1. With 3.73s, full boltons (exhaust, intake, pulleys, tune) and a set of cams it was still a fairly decent race for my friends stock auto/coupe/2.73 geared LS1 car. From a roll I would get beat fairly badly by 6spd cars with good drivers.
Simply put, to make 350 WHP you need full boltons, cams, heads, intake, and shortblock (with some AGRESSIVE porting and cams) plus a tune and a host of other stuff. Code3 has 10K+ in motor alone to make (at least I heard ) 34x WHP.
Even 350 flywheel horsepower is too much not to notice. Your talking 30x WHP here, which would still mean full boltons/cams/heads and a great tune. Its simply not possible to make this kind of power on a 2v car and not know its there.
You would be highly surprised how much difference the driver makes in a car. I beat plenty of cars that make more power and should be faster than mine simply because the drivers cannot drive.
