Default Shifter Gasket Material?

Just curious, what is the material used for the shifter gaskets? I'm going to install my new tri ax and am gonna make a gasket for it. Just wondering, do they use rubber or a paper gasket?

I just used RTV on mine. It's cheaper than gaskets

you could buy yourself a cobrabob shifter gasket also.

I have rolls of every type of gasket at work, I figure about 5 minutes to make one, just wondering if they are rubber or paper?

Silicone rubber (the red stuff), about 0.040" thick...

Thanks, I just found a piece in my tool box, I cut one out and am ready to install the shifter.

Remember to take the black cap from the bottom of the stock shifter shaft, and place it on the Tri-Ax.

shifter is on, feels great with a nice short throw. The only problem is sometimes coming out of 5th or R the spring dosent push it back to center, is this just because it's new and needs to be broke in?

No something is wrong there. Reinstall the shifter and see what happens.
Did you make sure totransfer the roundplastic cap at the bottom of the stock shifter to the Tri-Ax?
