Default Clutch... whats the best brand?

So the other night I was racing a new GT... I barely had him....untill I missed third... now my clutch is starting to slip a bit here and there... I figure I can baby it for mabey a month or so... but I need to fix this asap! My question to you guys is, what brand/stage clutch should I go with?? The car is pretty much stock as it is, exaust and whatnot, with plans of a ProCharger ans accompaning go fast goodies within the next year. I am looking for a good bang for the buck clutch! I was thinking Spec stage 2... but it seems a bit pricey! Any other thoughts? and a good cheap place to by it?
Thanx!

I am planning on going with the Spec stage 2 as soon as mine goes out. Check it out on americanmuscle.com thats where I am planning on getting mine, and use the word mustangforums for a discount.

i cant say from experience on anything about spec, but i have the centerforce dual friction and it is awesome... softer pedal than my stock clutch and softer than a king cobra...

+1 on the Centerforce Dual Friction. I have one in my '71 and it's a great clutch.

My spec stage 2 held up well for 80k miles and hard launches with slicks. This time around I wanted something better and able to handle more power so I went with a McLeod. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to try it out but I hear they are about the best.

McLeod or Hayes are the best but they're aren't cheap.

anything but spec... spec was good until recently.. there quality has gone down hill.. or maybe i got a bad clutch or something. I installed one in december and 4 months later the clutch was fried and the aluminum flywheel was warped. id recommend fidanza. I used to only use spec but after this incident i will never use them again. $2000+ for 2 clutches in 5 months.... not worth it. DO NOT ORDER THE CLUTCH YOURSELF. Take it to a shop tell them what clutch you want tell them to order it and install it. Therefore if it does mess up its warrentied. I bought my spec clutch and flywheel from americanmuscle where i order 90% of my parts from and took it to a shop and had them install it. When it blew up they didnt warrenty the work because i brought the clutch to them. so take it to a shop and have them do it all. Thats my $.02
