Well, I'm looking into getting either the 2000 Mustang GT, or 1997 Mustang Cobra.

From what I've read up on specs, the 2000 Mustang GT puts out only 260 horsepower.
When the 1997 Mustang Cobra puts out 306 horsepower.

Here's my questions,
1) In a quarter mile race, which stock car would win a 2000 Mustang GT or a 1997 Mustang Cobra.
2) Does the 1997 Mustang Cobra come supercharged?

2. No, its a 4v per cylinder head vs the 2v per cylinder GT - it flows better and carries a rev limiter of 7k vs the 6k limiter in the GT

Thanks, I was hoping it wasn't supercharged.
It's amazing how it's not supercharged and makes 306 horsepower.
Now I'll be able to supercharge it myself, (Procharger) get even more power out of that puppy.
To bad the 2000 GT looks better.

Aww come on, the SN95 looks GREAT, what color is it? Mellow Yellow had a Cobra right MD? or am I mistaken?

I think mellow yellow had just a plain GT that was yellow.

Oh and MD is from south ga.

if ur going to s/c ur stang make sure u buy it w/ low miles cuz fi put a toll on an engine.

32 valve twin cam thats how cobras get the HP which is so much more than a reg. 4.6 of the same year.

yeah the 97 Cobras are not that much quicker than the 00' GT though, right? i mean nothing major like the 03-04 cobras although it responds alot better to mods than the GT will. atleast i think

The Cobra's, make no mistake have more HP, but their TQ curve absolutely sucks, whereas the 99+ GT has a respectably flat torque curve.

Any good driver should be able to hang with a pre 03 Cobra from a light.

ya but the modds for a cobra cost a lot more than the same modd for a GT

go with the 97 cobra..my friend has a 98 and with a chip, intake, x-pipe and cobra r side exhaust and it hauls ***..way faster then my GT.
