cant pin the problem

cant pin the problem
thought it was a bad starter. jacked up my pony today and tried cranking it over. get a metallic click sound when i try to crank. just one click. looked under it and saw no movement, but pinned the sound to be coming from the transmission or driveshaft area. any clues as to what may be wrong.
