Default standard manual transmission question

I own a 97 GT manual. Is the standard tranny supposed to be kind of clunky.Like I can reallyfeel the gears between shifts. Is this normal for this tranny?I know you are supposed to feelthe gears a little which I may not be used to because I have driven other manuals and you do not feel anything. The car has almost 75,000 miles on it.

As long as there is not bad gear clash and you can't hear or feel the gears grind then you are most likely OK. Its a mustang, be a man and shift it hard!

I want to thank you guys for your responses. I am 16 years old and it is my first stang and I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

i understand. keep in mind that the transmissions in these stangs where designed in the late 70's and barely updated. its old technology. My 06 subaru shifts effortlessly compared to my mustang that you have to slam gears in to make it happy....happy happy happy.
