really quick tech q about short throw
how much tranny fluid should be in that box? Before i install the short throw? there is a 1/4 inch of fluidif that. Is that rubber bubble a fluid/pressure release on the side of the box? Should i add more?

RE: really quick tech q about short throw
no, its fine. the only way to tell anyway would be that if it shifts really hard and the gears whine like a honda in reverse. or you can go to the trouble removing the fill plug and sticking your finger in to see if it is at the top of the hole.

i've also wondered about this. when i installed my mgw there wasn't any oil in the box exceptin the little round cup where the end of the shifter connects to it

RE: really quick tech q about short throw
The shift turret on our trannys does not hold oil, it's a clear path through the turret down to the gearbox itself so you'll never see more than what splashes up into there when you pull the shifter. In fact, a common way torefill the transmission when changing the juice is to pull the shifter and dump the fluid in from "up top"...One other comment, re: the 3650 transmission. Filling it up to the bottom of the fill hole on the box is way too much oil--the original spec called for 3.7L which is about 1/2" below the fill hole, however TSB 04-15-6 recommends only 3.0L (3.2 qts) to help alleviate problems with the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts caused by hydro-blocking of the shift rods and detents...
