new throttle body/check engine light

RE: new throttle body/check engine light
Thanks for the feedback. The SVO products are Ford's own after market performance products. I thought the Fordparts guy was off base. I ended up buying a BBK 70 mm. Im waiting for it to arrive.
I'd like to swp the TB myself but I am somewhat worried here...
The only2 parts on the TB that Im concerned about. Is the fuel line connections and removing the accelerator/cruise control cables from the original TB.
If anyone has done a TB swap, could you please reply with some info on my concerns above.
Thanks,
techsent

RE: new throttle body/check engine light
There are no fuel lines connected to the TB or plenum, and the throttle and cruise cables are very easy to remove and replace--it's a very easy job without any gotcha's. Do make sure you disconnect the battery for 5-7 minutes (5 minimum!) to clear the computer's adaptive memory so that it can learn the new idle parameters...

RE: new throttle body/check engine light
Thanks for the clarifications Cliff. My after market book gave info on removing fuel lines etc.. (using a special tool) when swapping the plenum. At that point, I knew I was getting into the deep end.

RE: new throttle body/check engine light
Hey Guys,
well, I thought I was out of the woods but afraid not.
I started changing the TB yesterday and had to stop because I can't figure out how to disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TB.
The video at http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv8bbktb.htmshows the guy manuallypushing the TB linkage back and easily sliding the Throttle cable out. Mine does not offer this same option. He also said to disconnect the cruise control cable but doesn't show you how to do it.
Mythrottle cable end link is fastened to a black piece of plastic that is on the linkage. I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to figure out how to disconnect the end link. The same is similar with the cruise control cable. The end link connects to a piece of hard black plastic. I pulled, pushed, twisted etc.. but no luck.
I have a 99 GT convertible 35th anni edition.
If anyone has detailed steps on how to disconnect these 2 cables properly, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
techsent
