Default What is the best motor oil for a 4.6L engine?

Well my car is coming up on an oil change. I was wondering what brand of oil is best for this engine. I was guessing it would be Mobil One or Castrol Syntec. Would it be okay to switch to a semi synthetic or full syntheticif the original owners put non synthetic in it?

Castrol Syntech, Mobil1, or Royal Purple will perform great if you want a synthetic.

I use the Motorcraft 10w-30 Synthetic blend it is only 2.32 a qt at Walmart. And I have 389,000 original miles on my car. I have only had to do the valve seals

use motorcraft synthetic 5w20. it's ford recommended and runs just dandy. it's also A LOT cheaper than mobile 1.

Amsoil is less expensive then dino oil. At $47 per year for oil and filter for Amsoil, plus whatever for the labor of actually changing the oil.

At any rate, the best oil is the one that you'll service properly. If you use cheap oil, you need to change it more frequently. If you use extended service oils, change as directed by the oil manufacturer.
