I have a 98 GT with stock wheels and need some wider tires too....
I really dont know if I want to go 275/40 becuase I dont want it to bubble at all.
I think 265/40 would be perfect for the rear while 235/45 would be good up front....
TOO BAD THEY DONT MAKE THE TIRE IM WANTING IN A 265 SERIES!!! They are they Sumitomo HZRII's

RE: 17x8 tire sizes
the one reason why i can see why you wouldnt want to put wide tires on the front would be because you are going 100% strip set up, I had 265's up front and 295's in the rear and my car handled like a dream! This mind you was on 18x9 and 18x10.5 in. rims. I have seen 275's on my buddys car and I dont think it looks right at all, the tires look wayyyy to big, I wouldnt bother with anything bigger than stock on the stock rims. if you want more rubber for the track just drop the tire pressure. and as for tire pref. I never had the nitto dr's butt I had toyo proxie t1-s's and they were unbelievable.

yeah, if I'm getting told not to go larger than 275's for drag radials on a 9 inch depth wheel, I have no idea why people would put the same on a 8 inch depth wheel. It's kinda like how people put 315's on 9 inch depth wheels but they bulge like hell and crown the tires hardcore. If you want the same put 275's on a 8 inch depth wheel I'd guess you can but it's your car you're dealing with not mine, but then again what do I know
