killing my GT?
i have an automatic 2004 mustang GT, just with a CAI so far. Is it bad that i race and feed a lot of speed to the auto transmission? i already had one line break and ford fixed it. I sometimes even put it in first gear and floor the hell out of it at about 2000 RPM's when im racing, will this mess up the auto trans? some people say yes, and some say the trans. in the mustang is made for abuse. so what is it?

RE: killing my GT?
its made to take some abuse but not a hell of a lot. take it easy on her jeez. ur tranny will go a lot faster if u keep flooring it at every light. only floor it if ur racing or if u really need too. I never push my car unless im racing, cuz i feel bad when i have to push it that hard, cuz i dont want things to start breaking. Just get a pair of lighter shoes, during everyday driving LOL

RE: killing my GT?
I absolutly rape my car, it see's redline at least 50 times on race days, and about twice a week I rape it for a good 20 minutes goofing off. I dump the clutch (stock clutch) at 6k on slicks, make 420+ rwhp, powershift off the rev limiter, just totally annihalate the tires on a routine basis. Keep the car well maintained and warmed up before you get on it hard and it will take the abuse with a smile
PS - If I ever sell my car in the future I hope they don't read the boards muahahaha

You're not gaining anthing by manually shifting the car, and I've read it's bad on the clutch packs. Only thing you're gaining is being in the correct gear and not having to wait on it to downshift.
Just get a stall, tranny cooler, and a shift kit. For drag racing, that's the best possible setup.

RE: killing my GT?
I like going round town slow cuz they know my car is fast cuz they can hear it but they never see me go fast. so its kinda lets them imagine what my car can do if i were to decide to floor it Its sorda like i have nothing to prove . plus i get less harrassed by cops if i go slow.
