Default Comp Cams Install

Ok I've been looking for all kinds of write ups for the install.
I have comp xe270's and I'm putting them in tomorrow.
I'm running a stock 98 shortblock with stock PI heads and these cams.
Anyways, I'm looking for any and all insight on this before I do it.
Links, advice, problems people have had, what to look out for, etc...

When I did the swap I put in xe268's and the tech line guy said that it would be a good idea to use the cam followers from the old 98 heads because the ones in the PI heads would most likely raise the lift too much and cause ptv problems.

Make sure you degree them when you put them in, it will prevent PTV clearance issues.

hey, i got the same cams you did. i had the machine shop do about 700$ worth of head work to my heads and they even put on the cams for me. well when i got back to put them on, i lined up the timing marks and omg i had ptv issues up the a$$. if you want these cams to work and not have to degree them so they will keep your power band as comp intended get you pistons notched or just get forged ones with a notch in them already or have a machine shop do it for you.... dont mean to sound like a know it all but i went through this and this is just what i had to do.

Yeah man I'm just going to degree them. I bolted the heads down to the block today and then cams in. Tomorrow I'm going to get the chains on and get em degreed. Hopefully everything works out. I'm still doing a lot of research now though.

Make sure the key on the crank is at TDC, aka "safe mode" so that you don't get any contact while you are degreeing the cams. I'm sure you already have it there, but figured I would say something just in case.

Yeah, I definitely have it on safe mode right now. None of the pistons are at TDC. I appreciate the insight.
