Default squealing sound.... help

When I accelerate I hear a squealing sound from the engine and it gets louderm faster, and slightly more high pitched the more I accelerate. Is this a loose belt, or my pulleys or what?

Could be bad idler pulley, bad tensioner spring/pulley, bad a/c clutch, bad power steering pump, bad water pump, bad alternator, etc..............

Little more info would help

hmmmm I dunno what else to say, thats about all the info I can give...

it doesn't squeek at all at an idle, but right around 2000 rpm and up it will start. Should I get it looked at somewhere if thats all I can tell ya?

I'm not trying to pick on you, but yah. If that's allyou can tell us and that is the limit of your diagnosing skills, it's probably best to take it to a reputable shop.

You can try to put the car in park/neutral, set the e-brake, pop the hood open and with the car running, manually open the throttle body butterfly valve. Rev the engine up until you hear the noise. See if you can locate the problem easier from that point of view. If it doesn't make the noise you're hearing at all, it's probabley in the drivetrain.

Happens to my car too, I'm pretty sure it has to do with my AC.

ok so I dont know my pullies, but I took some pictures and maybe someone can help me name which one it is. I narrowed down the squealing to one of these pullies. And the one on the bottom, with the grey piece sticking out is shaking slightly. I can see the grey piece moving back and forth rapidly. And when I accelerate the squealing gets louder and more high pitched. Which pulley is this and how can I fix it?

here is a larger view, sorry its sideways

the bottom one is the water pump pulley, the top one with the metallic thing (alternator) is the alternator pulley. i suggest replacing it asap, you lose your water pump and all hell can break lose

oh no I know for sure its not the alternator. That was just a sideways pic. The first pic is a better one of what I'm trying to show. Its that grey metallic one connected to a pulley to the bottom of the first pic, that thing kinda shakes and I was wondering if that is normal, and the squealing comes from there.

Any other thoughts anyone?
