NA UPGRADE BIBLE
Ok, I just though I'd do my best to make a post to answer most peoples what should I do next questions and give people a good idea as to what mods put out what power. Let me know wat ya think.
FULL EXHAUST
First thing you should add is a full exhaust. MMFF Dynoed a full SLP exhaust on a 98gt for 22rwhp and 13trq. They also did not have an OR xpipe on this so maybe squeeze out acouple more with no cats.
COLD AIR INTAKE
In order to match that free flowing exhust, from word around here Densecharger seems to be the way to go about 8rwhp from the dyno chart below.
http://www.super-chip.com/densecharger-horsepower.htm
GEARS + TIRES
Not a horsepower adder but definately a torque multiplier. This will give your stang a major kick in the pants! Most popular choices are 3.73s or 4.10s which can drop your quarter mile time roughly anywhere from .2-.6 Also its a must to have nice stickly tires to make use of the gears. Mostly you'll hear about the Nitto DR555's
UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS + TIMING ADJUSTER
Easy to install and a inexpensive a quick 10rwhp along with a nice 25trq gain, tested by MMFF themselves.

MASS AIR FLOW METER
Again going by our friends at MMFF in the above issue they threw on a costly 7rwhp and 2trq.
UPPER INTAKE
Fairly Inexpensive, easy install, dyno proven 9-14rwhp
http://reviews.stangnet.com/showprod.../cat/14/page/1
Now you should be makin around 265-275rwhp. With the 4.10s and some DR's we've seen from JD that 12's are possible. From here is where it would begin to get costly.
CAMS
There are many brands and grinds to choose from, according to comp cams from the 274 grind they gain 25peak hp http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Ca...HTML/66-67.asp
PORTING HEADS
Very beneficial, but costly. Dont really have any knowledge of gains, but on a guess Ill just say 20, if someone wants to correct me on that go for it.
LOWER INTAKE
Very expensive, but from the number seems to be worth it. 17rwhp and 21trq

Well, thats a pretty good start, hopefully people will add to the list and everyone can rever to this post in the future.

do they even make better aftermarket heads for the 4.6s? i thought the only option was to port PI ones or stock on 99+... same with the intake manifold ... until the p51 came out

Everything for the 4.6 is ridiculously expensive. That's why it takes so damn long to mod our cars (well for those of us students with modest incomes) as opposed to a 5.0 or older car. As far as I know there aren't any aftermarket heads for the 4.6, but I have heard rumors of Edelbrock working on a design. Who knows when it will be available though. I'd like to see other manufacturers jump on the bandwagon, especially TrickFlow and AFR.
after all the "basic boltons" I"d skip head and cam work and go straight 2 some sort of FI...which in the long run would b cheaper and u'll b faster if u put all ur money into a blower or some other form on FI
