Default Longtube Install + Steering Shaft

So I'm trying to get Mac Longtubes installed in my 98 GT....my question is how do I get the steering shaft through the headers and where does it go through them? I don't have the K-member out because I had to change head gaskets so my engine is torn down to the short block and we're dropping the tranny for the upcoming clutch swap so that should give me plenty of room to wiggle them in but I just can't figure out the whole steering shaft part of it. Thanks for the help and if anyone happens to have pics that would be great!

This is going to be much easier doing it this way I believe because I have to change my clutch anyway. But back to the original question I really just need to know how to make this steering shaft fit. So anyone who has done this before please help me out!

Okay well, on the mac LTs the steering rack goes through the middle of the headers so.....you will have to disconnect the shaft from the steering rack and if you are determined to do it without dropping the k member then you will have to just wiggle the header in and push and pull and try to get the right angle for the shaft to go through. Or, and im not sure if this would work but it seems like it would, Just get in the car under the dash and unbolt the steering shaft from the steering wheel (mark alignment marks just in case) put the header in then put the steering shaft in from the other way, then bolt it back up to the steering wheel and finish the install of the headers, and of course reattach it to the steering rack....please someone chime in if my way is wrong or bad advice for our MF friend here..
just try to think it out for ya
