I've got a bone stock 02 GT daily driver that I'd like to improve the sound of. I don't want a loud, obnoxious, bellowing machine popping away from lack of backpressure. If anything, I would like to just tune the sound of the car and give it a small power boost.

Can I get your recommendations for a cat-back system over the stock exhaust sound?

How about a Borla 3 chamber?

For sound, DynoMax Ultraflo. Good deep rumble but not so muchto scare the neighborhood kids...unless you want it too.Only downside is the piping is aluminized and not stainless. F***'in already is starting to get some surface rust. [:@]

Also remember that any system in a vert is going to be louder and you will hear the drone more so take that into consideration.
I have a 2003 GT Vert with the Magnaflow catback and I love it.
Bassani would be my second choice.

Good luck with whatever you choose. For me exhaust was the hardest thing I had to decide on and I kept on going back and forth between the chambered sound and straight through sound.

With my magnaflow catt'd X and steeda cat back I have almost no drone up to about 2500 rpm and if you shift before 3K it really isn't very loud. It doesn't snarl like you describe, and really just gives the car a very "engine'y" sound when you get on it.
