Default MAF Porting Safe?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-01...QQcmdZViewItem

Is this something that is safe to do? I'm not expecting to see a real gain in hp...but it couldn't hurt, or could it?

I read about this awhile back and there were alot of negative aspects on this. If I remember right, it really leans the motor out. This will increase HP, but is VERY dangerous to the motor.

Just curious how would it lean it out. The shaft that comes down is behind where the air enters the sensor so there shouldn't really be any difference in the amount of the air thats entering the sensor.

Has anyone done this and experienced any problems? Once you do it there no really going back so just trying to get as much feedback as possible.

it will lean it out more air same amount of fuel = Air fuel Ratio= LEAN
if you are gonna do that get you some 24lb. injectors (I used Z28 Injectors) and get a tuner (Diablosport Predator) and calibrate the shyte....if you are so bent on getting the ported MAF

yeah it does its 96-04 part #U1746.AnyhowI didnt mean you were dying to do the mod i meant if you wanted to do it with little harm to your engine then do it like i was trying to tell you. if you lean out too much i believe that causes detonation....burn a hole in that piston if you want

Ya its cool i didn't take offense. I thought the diablosport tuner was for 98-04 only, sorry i didn't know they made it for 96/7 yet. Would 24lb injectors solve the lean prob?

And if i was to do this i would be doing it myself...

I'll throw in my .02, the MAF calculates the flow of air and uses the diameter of the MAF to make calculations. By increasing the MAF diameter you are letting more air in, but throwing the calculation off which will lean the heck outta your motor.
