Yah, you could say it's right near the gears.[8D]

If you are in the shopping mood for gears, now wouldn't be a bad time to swap them out with the Trac-Lok rebuild.

The front are 18x9 with a 265/35/18 tire.
As for if it is anywhere near the gears, they are bolted together.

The clutches in your Trac Lok unit are toast. They can't take that kind of abuse for long.....
+1, but a burnout shouldn't hurt the clutches, they just wear out sometimes.

Replace the fluid, and put syn in there with additive to see if it will fix it.

YES ^^^^ try that first. A while ago when my 2000 gt was in the shope my mechanic was explaining to me how if you dont have the addidtive in it will not work right. when you take a corner it allows one tire to move slower then the other if you dont have it in you will hear screeching from the tire that is on the inside of the turn. Cheapest way is to drain the fluid and fill her back up with the additive and see if it fixes it. Also when you drian the fluid lok for metal shavings or and differential gears worn out. You might find you problem.. hope this helped.
