Default Cams, how tough.

Has anyone done this themselves? Can it be done without removing the engine? It seems like alot of labor for a small gain.

You won't have to pull the engine because the GT is SOHC, meaning the cams are in the heads. You'll have to take off the cam covers, and timing belt.

I know I could do it, I don't know how mechanically inclined you are.

I know one thing you'll need is a torque wrench when you're putting the bearings back on.

alright, well say I got these:
VT stage 1 cams
Exactly what are all the effects of new cams, will I idle higher? Will I idle alot rougher? Will I lose gas milage?
I'm trying to figure out the benefits.

when you get them in, you will gain power from them... I don't know the specs on the stock cams at all, so I don't know if your idle will change any.

VT stage 1's are gonna give you around 25 rwhp and a nice idle. Piece of cake to do, you can use the AFM tool or drop the timing cover. Not for a first timer if your removing the timing cover because you've gotta set the cam timing back up, the engine is an interference seteup, meaning if not timed right your gonna bend valves.

After installing the cam with the timing set and the chains on with the crank pully, make sure the engine will turn over each cylinder making sure nothing hits
