ORIGINAL: yelw02GT

all of a suden i parked my car today after work and my window wont go up, it just doesnt make any noise or effort, switch may be bad? it doesnt do anything when i press the button to go up, but when i press it down i hear a single click noise coming from the harness of wires right above the pull latch for the hood? any ideas? bad switch or maybe bad motor? btw the button right next to the driverside button for the pass window works fine
I would take the door panel off and see what is going on before purchasing any parts.
There might be a sector gear that is stripped and you might be able to get just that particular
part.

A picture is worth a 1000 words.

For those where the problem comes and goes, that is similar to starter motors that do the same thing and then
work when you tap on them with a rubber mallet.
What is happening is the commutator brushes are stopping on a dead, or dirty segment and the *juice*
doesn't flow. When you tap the motor, you jar the armature to the next segment and the motor starts
working.

Think of it like Wheel Of Fortune.
If you stop on any other spot but bankrupt, your car will start

Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. All of a sudden the window wouldn't roll up. Youwould hear a click but nomotor. I read on another forum to bang hard on the inside of the door kinda in the middle to the left of the speaker. You have to hit it pretty hard. I know it sounds crazy but it worked! heh.. Hasn't happened since.

I did window regulators all of the time at Ford. All of the techs in the shop called it their "job security" because it happened so much. I say that9 out of10 times (in my experiance) it's a bad regulator. It's not hard to do.

this happend to me yesterday, and a few months back. It kept making a clicking noise. icut the engineand let it sit for about 2 hours. drove down the street 2 clicks down and pushed up and heard a thump like it was stuck and window went right back up. if u can try to click it down then up or down down then up. it should be fine. i would just wait for it to work and not pay 200 just yet

Mine was like that on the lot. Made them replace it. Said hte bill would normally be like 300+$. They managed to **** up my tint as they misalligned something in the door... oh well, they made up for it by removing my tint, giving me new brake pads and fixing my headliner for free.

This happened to me a few weeks ago...hold the button down and slam the door a few times. Worked for me and hasn't happened again. Seems that motor gets stuck. Anyway, try this before taking panel off. Its worth a shot.
