Well how long it lasts depends on your driving habits and how long it's been squeaking, provided it's the TOB. When mine started squeaking I didn't get more than a couple months out of it before it blew up while my girlfriend was driving the car and we had to tow it home. The only part it will damage is the TOB itself so don't worry about anything else. I would have it checked out as soon as you can though because you may end up stranded alongside the road.

Hey, sidewayz, you say it's been squeeking for a year now, is it the same noise that stops when you push the clutch in as I described?

Yeah, mine is definately the throw out bearing. I also have the Steeda adjustable cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster. It's gone away mostly because of the adjustments, but you can still faintly hear it.

damnit, sounds kinda like my problem is the TOB. When I shift quick at like 5500rpms when I release the clutch quick it makes kinda of a grinding noise. It's wierd though I brought it in for the TSB a lil after I bought it (used) and they replaced like everything but that, even the clutch. Maybe I should get her back in before the is up in warranty 4k miles. Not to hijack but could it be summin else, didn't do this before. My dealership doesn't do it's own tranny work last time they said none of their techs knew how to work on a manual transmission [sm=wtf.gif] so they drove it like a half hour away to a place that took a week and a half to fix it and it's still kinda ****ty. That dealership is so crooked they had an 05 there with like limo tint and I asked what was on it and the salesmen was like "the legal limit" this was a brand new car so they did it and it was on the front 2 windows. I'd be pissed if I bought a car and got a tint ticket on the way home. RAWWR

Last year when I went to the track in my 96GT, I started to hear a chirping/sqeaking sound from the TOB....About 3 months later, everytime i would press in the clutch, like JD says, I would hear something "like chains dragging." The dealership was gonna charge like 560 bucks for a new clutch and TOB, but the clutch was new.....to hell with that. Me and my friend put in a new TOB, but when we took off the housing to the clutch cable, there were like 3 or 4 bearings rolling around in it...I dont know how that happened, but im sayin, I have a heavy foot. It sounds like you should be fine, mine had 225,xxx miles on it anyway.

Mine does it now and then and I just pull up on the clutch "readjusting it" it usually works for a while.
If I get the Steeda Clutch adjusting kit http://www.mustangtuning.com/noname3.html will this be fixing the problem or just making the noise until it blows?

Get that kit. Your noise will go away. It's a *** to adjust it though. You have to fine tune to get it perfect. Took me like an hour to do everything. Just wait till it craps out on you and get a new clutch, but i doubt it will be soon. These things can sqeek for ever before anything goes wrong.
