Default Time for oil change

Taking my GT to the dealership tomorrow to get oil changed. Car is an 02 with 50,000 miles onit, looking to switch over to synthetic versus the blend they normally use. Should I go ahead and get the trans and rear end gear fluids switched as well?

look , there is one problem with going from regular to synthetic. synthetic oil has detergents in it that supposidly clean your engine , and when they do , the plugs formed from your regular oil will get cleaned out and possibly cause leaks. this is what i've heard , i just use regular mobil 1 non-synthetic 5w-30. and ya change it yourself , unless you are under a lease or something that requires them in the contract to do all scheduled maintenence.

than why did you buy a mustang? you buy a mustang when you plan on working on it yourself. changing oil is so easy. you should have bought an economy car if that is your outlook on your car.

Guess if I wanted an economy car than I would have bought one. I have the money to afford to have it done so I choose to have it done.

Its cheaper for me to have the dealer do it then it is if I buy the oil and filter my self. Not to mention they fill everything up like windshield fluid. Its only 36 bucks for the dealer to do it. Iv done it my self like twice and it always ends up being like $48 and thats with the regular oil. Plus its damn annoying spilling oil all over the engine when taking the filter off. Its just easier for them to do it plus if you buy a used vehicle from our dealer its free for life which is pretty good to me lol.

the principal on do-it-yourself work , is that you save money , money that could be used in making your car faster , no just keeping it running. the more you know about your car , and the more you get in and get dirty , i guarentee you will feel great when you have fixed your car yourself, you fixed that noise thats been bothering you , or fixed that rough idle , or whatever the problem may be. fix it yourself , you'll feel good about it.

I've seen the guys at the oil change places and the slackers that do it at the dealerships, there is a reason they get paid $5.50 an hour, and you want those tards working on your car..... good luck on replacing your oil pan with the stripped out drain plug!!
