Damn people are still talking about how much oil their gt takes.
Guy1: My Gt takes 5 qts
Guy2: Well mine takes 6.5, so you're a dumbass and cant read the dipstick
Guy1: wtf do you do with the left over quart?
Guy2: I swallow it
Guy1: I save 12$ because I buy 2 less quarts
Guy2: I can hold more oil in my GT

The dipstick tube has at least a couple of fairly sharp bends, through 3 or more planes, the twisted stick makes it easier to insert and withdraw--it's sort of like a flexible shaft. The twists have no impact on reading the level, or the accuracy of the readings, as the actual gauge at the end is straight and flat and the twistedsection is dimensionally stable along it's length...
