i don't know if you have the same problem as i did but it sounds about the same. My car was doing that and after about a week or so it wouldn't rev past 2.5 until eventually it struggled to stay cranked up after i turn the key. I took it to the dealership and they said my air filter was on wrong and had let oodles of dirt come through and also damaged my mass airflow sensor. they had to replace the air filter, mass airflow sensor, and clean allthe dirt out of the throttle body and it cost me 600 bucks. not cool so check that air filter and MAF.

check your coils, sparks aren't usually the prooblem. While at idle and the car on, pull the spark wires one by one. You should here a significant change in the sound of the engine. if you pull one and there is no change, then it might be that coil not firing.

Mass Air Flow meter. Sounds like that's a possibility. Could be anything, really. This one may be hard to diagnose without seeing the car. Any codes? It can bethe MAF, EGR being stuck,or clogged cat. You're going to have to take it to Ford and have them hook a scan tool up to it. I know it sucks taking it somewhere, but you're just going to be guessing without using a scan tool.

Hi again...
I took the car to a specialized garage and he checked it with IDS ( Integrated Diagnostic Software) and we found out that the current software of the car computer,is an Automatic Transmission software, the guy told me that he will reprogram it for me, but i need to get any 2002 Mustang GT MANUAL TRANSSMISON Computer no. I only need the 4 characters code, Its written in the middle of the computer label sticker.. anyone who has a 02 mustang gt manual, please help
