Default Intake Manifold Replacement 99-04 GT

My intake manifold just got cracked on the cooland crossover pipe and since I did not acton time I lost the ability to have it fixed under Ford intake settelment. Well, I found one on ebay for $185. Is it a difficult repair ? Is it something you coudl do in your home garage ? My local shop quoted me $400 for labor to have it replaced. Is there any DIY bulletin anybody knows about ? Thanks Pete

I had the same exact same problem 2 weeks ago. And I solved it the same way your solving it. I got an intake manifold on ebay with an aluminum crossover instead of plastic and it's holding up okay. Uh, I'm am a very novice{fill with any word but mechanic}and still achieved to do it. I did have the help of a buddy of mine but all he did was tell me what to unhook or unbolt. After doing it I found that I probably could've done it without him. One thing though, If you don't drain the coolant, you risk getting coolant in your spark chambers in toward the back, considering the rear crossover is so close to the spark chamber. I was hard headed and didn't want to drain my coolant and one of my coils wouldn't fire. I fiured out from another friend how to fix my problem though. very easy process though and you will learn how to replace many other things that you may upgrade one day (throttle body, fuel injectors, spark plugs/coils). good luck.

Forgot to mention, the alternator bracket that comes with it sucks. It will clamp down on some necessarry hoses which isn't good. It's best to just use the stock alternator bracket and drill the two new holes in it (you will need a fast drill and strong bits) for the new placement. Trust me on this.

Intake manifolds are easy. Just unbolt and put the new one on. If there's anything in the way, move it. Just don't lose anything like bolts and ****. I suggest investing in a magnet that extents like a pointer. I've dropped so many sockets and bolts in engine bays and would have never gotten them back without the magnet.

Not true! The bolts for the belt tensioner for the Cadillac CTS's are not simple. For starters, they're torx (sp?) bolts. Second, you can't get a ratchet on them cause of this STUPID pipe that runs underneath it. Third, if you have hands bigger than a 5 year old female dwarf, you can't reach them without cutting your hand open. Finally, you can't see them cause they're upside down and no light will get to them. It took me 45 minutes to get the second bolt off. That bolt was NOT simple.
