I called them to get the total this morning. . . FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY BUCKS!!!!!! after i was quoted 150 on saturday. . . WTF!!!!!!!

Thats why i refuse to let anyone else work on my car. I just figure it out as i go and read a lot.

i have heard too many horror stories about the rear end. . . i've never worked on it so i'm not touchin it for the first time. this is my DD. and this is supposed to be a reputable mustang shop

It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I did mine in a weekend for the first time got to work on monday! haha, more pressure to get it done when its a daily driver.

Anyways...i'm not suprised at the $560 it's a lot of work. Their first quote may have been way off.

You got screwed. It shouldn't take any more than 2 hours to do this switch.[/align]I did this last year in my garage.And it took me about 2 hours to do it.[/align]

+1000000 on this, when you open the diff up, once you start looking at how everything works, its really easy to picture how you would take everything out. Putting it back in the is the tricky part where you have to be careful or some bad stuff can happen. When i blew the 8.8 in the car, I pulled the whole thing out and brought it to my fathers friend and watched/helped him put it back togather after the parts were gotten and everything besides the tedious part of setting up the pinion shims and setting up the backlash.

how much did you authorize? If they quoted one price and you didn;t authorize any more, you're not liable for the difference.

If they machined the parts out of ignorance, they're liable to replace them and fix any other damage they did.

That said, GOOD LUCK! Maybe you're relationship with them will pay off.
