so obv. it wasnt the MAF. i installed the new one and got the same horrible idle and die combination as the stock MAF. THen we found out the fuel pump **** the bed. Thanks to all that posted and helped out.

I hate when that happens!!
IOW, we make some mod to our car, it runs like crap and of course we all assume it's something we touched but instead it
turns out to be something totally irrelevant.

I spent 3 hours troubleshooting, before figuring out MFA sensor can be installed backwards! pulled it out, rotated it, et viola! brand new, 22hp richer under warranty!
